On 22 February 2025, Youth Educated (YE) hosted its inaugural Career Day at Drumvale Secondary School Ruai, an event connecting Form 3 and Form 4 students with professionals across various industries. This platform was designed to give students a firsthand understanding of career paths, ignite new ambitions, and expand their vision of what is possible.
Throughout the day, students engaged with mentors from fields such as journalism, law, technology, medicine, entrepreneurship, engineering, hospitality and the creative arts.
These interactions were more than just career talks—they were conversations that challenged students to think beyond their immediate surroundings and imagine futures they had never considered. Seeing their curiosity grow and hearing their questions deepen was a powerful reflection of how exposure shapes aspiration.
Why does this matter? For many young people, career options can feel distant and abstract. Without access to real-life examples, their ambitions are often limited to what they already know. The YE Career Day bridges that gap, offering students a chance to see where hard work and perseverance can take them. Standing on the right shoulders—those of experienced professionals—gives students a clearer view of the possibilities ahead. When they meet people who once stood where they are, it reinforces a simple but transformative message: their dreams are valid, and their potential is limitless.
At Youth Educated, we believe that every young person deserves the tools and encouragement to shape their future. Curated events like the YE Career Day go beyond academic preparation—they inspire confidence, broaden horizons, and provide the practical knowledge students need to navigate life beyond school.
A heartfelt thank you to all the mentors who dedicated their time and energy to share their journeys. Your insights are shaping the next generation, helping them see not just who they are—but who they can become. @Faith Karanja, @Brian George, @Muturi Kaibere, @Mary Wagura, @Tom Hosebon, @Linda Mwihaki Nginya
As we continue this journey, one thing is clear: when young people can see further, they can dream bigger—and achieve more.
